Series 3 President's Records (J. G. MacGregor) . - 1951-1966. -- 12.5 cm of textual records. -- Arranged chronologically. -- MacGregor, 1905-1989, bcame involved in the HSA in the 1950s. He was president from 1952-1956 and again from 1959-1961, and was on the Executive Council as Past-President in 1956-1957 and 1961-1962. He was treasurer of the society in 1963-1964. He carried on the HSA correspondence from his place of employment as President of Canadian Utilities in Edmonton. He maintained his correspondence in a single series covering all aspects of his activity in the Society as a member and as holder of various executive positions. This series includes correspondence with other executive members and with the public, and some items such as reports and membership lists.

Series 4 President's Records (Henry G. Ward). -- 1959-1964. -- 7.5 cm of textual records. -- Arranged chronologically. -- Ward, ?-ca. 1979, was Secretary of HSA from 1958-1960. In 1960 he was elected Vice-President of the newly-established Edmonton branch and in 1961-1962 was Vice-President of the provincial organization. He was president of HSA from 1962-1964. Ward's correspondence files cover all aspects of his activity in the Society, including the organization of meetings, inquiries from the public and HSA activities such as the sale of Northwest Historical Society booklets, Centennial plans, and a CFRN-TV series sponsored by HSA.

Parker's correspondence files cover all aspects of his activity in the local chapter and provincial association.

Ridge) . -- 1970-1982. -- 7.5 cm of textual records. -- Arranged chronologically. -- Alan Ridge, 1926-1997, was Provincial Archivist of Alberta from 1968 to 1984. He was active in the Amisk-Waskahegan Chapter and was chapter president in 1972. He was vice-president of the Provincial Society in 1976-1977, President, 1978-1980 and a member of executive as past-president from 1980-1981. Ridge carried out HSA business from his office at PAA and his files pertaining to HSA matters were integrated into the PAA's filing system, with a file code number 6.22, and sub-filing codes 6.22.1-6.22.24. The files have been left in the numerical order originally assigned to them at PAA.

Series 9 Secretary's Records (Sheilagh S. Jameson) . -- 1959-1962. -- 5 cm of textual records. -- Arranged chronologically. -- Jameson, 1914-1997, was Secretary of the HSA from 1960-1962. She was a long-time employee of the Glenbow Archives and was Chief Archivist from 1968 to 1979.

Series 10 Secretary's Records (W. L. Jacobson). -- 1962-1963. -- 2.5 cm of textual records. -- Arranged chronologically. -- Jacobson, 1896-1966, was an agronomist who specialized in irrigation. He was heavily involved in the development of the Prairie Farm Rehabilitation Administration. At the time he was secretary of the HSA, 1962-1963, he was a contract researcher for the Glenbow Archives.

Mattie). -- 1962-1969. -- 7.5 cm of textual records. -- Arranged chronologically. -- Wes Mattie was an archivist at the Provincial Archives of Alberta during the late 1950s and early 1960s, then history curator at the Glenbow Museum. He was secretary from 1962 to 1969.

She was secretary of the HSA from 1969 to 1986. From the time of the establishment of the Alberta Records Publication Board in 1976 Klassen also functioned as Secretary to that Board. See Series 16 and 17 for records Klassen created as ARP Secretary. Some of the records were created under the name Barrass.

Series 14 Newsletter editor's records (Don Wetherell). -- 1979-1982. -- 2.5 cm of textual records. -- Arranged chronoloically. -- The HSA Newsletter ws created in 1980 in response to a report by the Ways and Means Committee. Don Wetherell (1949-) was its first editor. At the time he was a consulting historian; he later became a professor of museum studies, first at the University of Calgary and later at Athabasca University.

Dempsey). -- 1953-1986. -- 3.72 meters of textual records. -- Arranged chronologically. -- Files 120-158 consist of general correspondence (1953-1975), files 159 to 267 include published manuscripts, galley proofs, correspondence; note: a change in the record-keeping practices of the editor in the mid-1970s resulted in the amalgamation of correspondence and manuscript files, which had previously been maintained separately. Files 268-276 consist of assoted correspondence and manuscript files; and files 277-278 contain Calgary Branch correspondence. Hugh A. Dempsey, (1929-) became involved in the HSA in the 1950s. He was named Associate Editor of Alberta History in 1956, when it was still called the Alberta Historical Review. He briefly held the office of President of the HSA in 1958, before he assumed the position of Editor of Alberta History on the retirement of the first editor in that year. He has been editor since that time and has been active in the Calgary branch of the HSA. Dempsey was Archivist of the Glenbow from 1956 to 1967 before talking on other roles with the museum.
