Series 8 | Plus 15 Pedestrian Walkway System. - 1968-1999. - 37.5 cm of textual records, drawings and photographs. - Oversize items. - When Harold Hanen worked for the City of Calgary Planning Department from 1966 To 1969, he conceived what would become the Plus 15 pedestrian walkway, a system of indoor walkways linking downtown buildings so named because the majority of them were 15 feet above ground level. For this he won the Vincent Massey Award for Merit in Urban Planning in 1970, the same year the first Plus 15 bridge in Calgary was opened. Hanen remained involved in the Plus 15 concept and recorded his thoughts on its development and what he saw as its unrealized cultural potential.
