Frequently Asked Questions
Are there any positions currently available at the Glenbow?
As we are a unionized environment, positions are initially advertised within the Museum. Positions advertised externally can be found under Current Opportunities.
What type of career opportunities does the Glenbow offer?
As a museum, art gallery, library and archives, and as an integral part of the arts community in Calgary, Glenbow requires an array of individuals to support our unique staffing needs. Although positions vary from museum to museum, certain positions remain constant to each institution.
The Canadian Museum Association has published a document entitled "A Guide to Museum Positions," which outlines careers that are basic to all museums. Visit www.museums.ca for additional resources. Please refer to the organizational chart for a list of positions at Glenbow.
Where can I find information about advanced education programs that offer courses in museum studies?
The Canadian Museums Association has a section on its website entitled "Museum Studies Programs in Canada". Listings are categorized by institution, province, or program level. You can find this information at the Canadian Museum Association website http://www.museums.ca/Cma1/About/Links/museumstudies/introweb.htm
